Production Process

 

Silicon manganese uses high-grade manganese ore (Mn≥45%), silica (SiO₂≥97%), and coke as raw materials. After mixing in a specific ratio, they are fed into a submerged arc furnace. At 1600-1800℃, coke acts as a reducing agent, and through carbothermal reduction, MnO₂ in manganese ore and SiO₂ in silica are reduced to produce silicon manganese alloy in one step.The molten silicon manganese alloy is tapped from the furnace, then cast, cooled, and crushed to obtain the final product in lumpy or granular form.

 

Applications

 

​Compound Deoxidizer: silicon manganese acts as a deoxidizer in steelmaking. Its deoxidation products have a low melting point and are easy to float, making it more effective than using manganese or silicon alone, with lower elemental loss rates

Ferroalloy Raw Material: Used as a reducing agent for medium/low-carbon ferromanganese production (silicothermic decarburization), more economical than using ferro silicon alone, reducing smelting costs
