Silicon manganese briquette is a spherical ferroalloy product made by compressing silicon manganese alloy powder. Its main components include manganese (Mn), silicon (Si), iron (Fe), and a small amount of carbon (C), among other elements. It typically appears as lumpy pieces with a silvery-gray luster. Compared to traditional silicon manganese alloy blocks, silicon manganese briquettes feature uniform particle size, high density, high deoxidation efficiency, and fast melting speed. Moreover, since silicon manganese powder scraps are used as raw materials, its production cost is generally lower, and it is more convenient to use and environmentally friendly.

 

Production Process

 

Using silicomanganese alloy powder (Mn 60%-75%, Si 10%-37%) as raw material, mix with binder evenly, press into 20-50mm diameter balls via ball press machine (20-30MPa pressure), then dry and solidify at 150-200℃ to remove moisture and prevent crushing. Finally, package and deliver after composition testing (complying with GB/T 4008-2017).

Application Scenarios

 

Steelmaking deoxidizer and alloying agent: In steelmaking, it serves as a high-efficiency complex deoxidizer and desulfurizer, which can effectively remove oxygen and sulfur from molten steel; meanwhile, as an alloy additive, it can enhance the strength, hardness and toughness of steel.

Foundry application: In cast iron production, it is used as an inoculant to improve the fluidity of molten iron and enhance the performance of castings.

Raw material for producing medium- and low-carbon ferromanganese: It is used as a reducing agent in the production of medium- and low-carbon ferromanganese.
