Properties of Nitride Ferro Chrome
Nitride Ferro Chrome boasts several distinctive properties that make it highly sought after in various industries
High Hardness
The addition of nitrogen increases the hardness of the alloy, making it ideal for use in wear-resistant applications.
Enhanced Corrosion Resistance
Nitrogen also improves the alloy’s resistance to corrosion, which is crucial for applications in harsh environments.
Stability at High Temperatures
The alloy remains stable and retains its properties even at elevated temperatures, which is essential for high-temperature industrial processes.
Application of ferrochromium nitride in stainless steel
Manufacture of high-strength stainless steel: Nitrided low carbon ferro chrome can form nitrides with nitrogen in steel. Nitride can further improve the strength and toughness of stainless steel. Therefore, ferrochromium nitride is widely used in the manufacture of high-strength stainless steel, such as aerospace, automobiles, machinery and other fields.
Manufacture of high corrosion-resistant stainless steel: Ferrochromium nitride can form chromium nitride with chromium in steel. Chromium nitride can further improve the corrosion resistance of stainless steel. Therefore, ferrochromium nitride is widely used in the manufacture of high corrosion-resistant stainless steel, such as chemical industry, marine engineering, food processing and other fields.
Manufacture of high-hardness stainless steel: Ferrochromium nitride can form nitrides with carbon elements in steel. Nitride can further improve the hardness and wear resistance of stainless steel. Therefore, ferrochromium nitride is widely used in the manufacture of high-hardness stainless steel, such as knives, molds, bearings and other fields.
Manufacture of high-temperature stainless steel: Ferrochromium nitride can improve the high-temperature strength and oxidation resistance of stainless steel, so it is widely used in the manufacture of high-temperature stainless steel, such as petrochemical, electric power, nuclear industry and other fields.
The production of Nitride Ferro Chrome involves a specialized process where high-purity ferrochrome is nitrided. The process generally includes the following steps:
Selection of Raw Materials: High-carbon ferrochrome is chosen as the base material due to its high chromium content.
Nitriding Process: The ferrochrome is exposed to a nitrogen-rich environment at high temperatures, often in the range of 900 to 1100 degrees Celsius. This process is typically carried out in a controlled atmosphere furnace.
Cooling and Crushing: After the nitriding process, the material is cooled and crushed into desired sizes for various industrial applications.
