It is widely used in the refractory industry and steelmaking sector as an efficient reinforcing phase for refractories and a source of nitrogen.

 

Production Process​

 

Ferro Silicon Nitride is primarily produced by the direct nitridation method. Ferrosilicon powder is subjected to a prolonged nitriding process in a high-temperature (typically 1100-1400°C) nitrogen atmosphere. This allows silicon to react with nitrogen to form a stable Si3N4 phase, bonded with iron. The final product is obtained after cooling, crushing, and screening.

Applications​
