The Production Principle Of Cored Wire

The production principle of cored wire involves wrapping alloy powder or additives into a linear composite material using steel strip. Specifically, the production process of cored wire consists of several key steps:

 

Core material preparation: Deoxidizers and alloying agents (such as silicon-calcium, titanium-iron, etc.) are crushed into powders of specific particle sizes to ensure uniform composition and compliance with metallurgical reaction requirements.

 

Steel strip wrapping: Cold-rolled low-carbon steel strip is used as the outer shell. The core powder is continuously wrapped into a circular or rectangular cross-section wire using forming equipment. The steel strip thickness is typically 0.35-0.45 mm.

 

Sealing and compaction: The wrapped wire is compacted by rollers to ensure dense core powder and tight steel strip seams, preventing moisture absorption or powder leakage.

 

Winding and packaging: The finished cored wire is wound into coils (1-1.3 tons per coil), protected by a moisture-proof film and woven bags, and automatically fed by a wire feeder.

 

This design allows for precise control of the amount of alloying elements added, injecting them deep into the molten steel via the wire feeder, improving element recovery and optimizing metallurgical effects.
