Introduction To Cored Wire

Cored wire, also known as cored steel wire, is a wire material used in metallurgical engineering for ladle refining. It consists of a cold-rolled low-carbon steel strip encasing a core of ferroalloy powder, with a circular or rectangular cross-section. Through a wire feeding method, refining agents and alloying agents are introduced deep into the molten steel to achieve deoxidation, desulfurization, degassing, and inclusion modification treatment. It can solve the problem of nozzle blockage in continuous casting of aluminum deoxidized steel.

 

Cored wire refers to a wire body with a steel outer sheath and an inner core of ferroalloy powder, with a circular or rectangular cross-section. It is used as a wire feeding method in ladle refining of steelmaking to add refining agents and alloying agents. It can be directly added deep into the molten steel to deoxidize, desulfurize, degas, and modify non-metallic inclusions, eliminating the problem of nozzle blockage in continuous casting of aluminum deoxidized steel.

 

Cored wire is a special type of wire, typically composed of an outer steel strip (or other metal strip) and an inner powder or core material. During the production process, the steel strip undergoes deformation treatment through multiple rollers to form a hollow tubular structure. Then, the required powder or core wire material is added inside the hollow tube. Finally, through a series of process steps, the steel strip tightly wraps the internal powder or core wire, forming a continuous cored wire product. This type of wire features stable structure, uniform powder distribution, and good performance, and is widely used in metallurgy, chemical industry, machinery, and many other fields.
