What are non-ferrous metal alloys?

Non-ferrous metal alloys include various types, such as aluminum alloys, copper alloys, magnesium alloys, nickel alloys, tin alloys, tantalum alloys, titanium alloys, and zinc alloys.

 

Non-ferrous metal alloys are alloys made by using non-ferrous metals as the base metal and adding one or more other elements. These alloys typically possess excellent physical and chemical properties and are widely used in various industrial fields. For example, aluminum alloys, with their advantages of being lightweight, high-strength, and corrosion-resistant, are commonly used in aerospace and automotive industries; copper alloys, due to their good electrical conductivity and corrosion resistance, are widely used in the power, electronics, and construction industries.

 

Specifically, aluminum alloys can be divided into two main categories based on their composition and manufacturing process: forged aluminum alloys and cast aluminum alloys. Forged aluminum alloys can be further subdivided into rust-resistant aluminum alloys, hard aluminum alloys, and super-hard aluminum alloys, each with its unique properties. Copper alloys include brass, bronze, and copper-nickel alloys, each with its unique applications. For example, brass has good machinability and corrosion resistance and is often used in the manufacture of pipe fittings and valves; bronze, due to its high strength and wear resistance, is widely used in the machinery manufacturing industry.

 

In addition, magnesium alloys, nickel alloys, and titanium alloys are also important non-ferrous metal alloys. Magnesium alloys are among the lightest metallic structural materials, possessing advantages such as low density, high specific strength, and good vibration damping performance, and are widely used in aerospace, automotive manufacturing, and other fields. Nickel alloys, due to their high-temperature strength and corrosion resistance, have important applications in the chemical, petroleum, and power industries. Titanium alloys, known for their high strength, low density, and good corrosion resistance, are commonly used in high-end applications such as aircraft engine components and rocket casings.
