Carbon Cored Wires

Carbon Cored Wire is an efficient carbon additive used in steelmaking. It is manufactured by encasing high-purity graphite carbon or calcined anthracite powder within a thin steel strip through rolling. Using wire-feeding technology, it allows for precise and efficient carbon composition adjustment in molten steel.

The production begins with calcining and grinding raw materials like petroleum coke or graphite into high-purity, low-sulfur/low-phosphorus carbon powder with a specific particle size. This powder is then continuously and uniformly fed into a steel strip via precision machinery. The strip is rolled, folded, and sealed to form a tight wire, which is finally wound into coils.

​Precise Carburization:​​ Used during secondary refining (e.g., in the LF furnace) to accurately adjust the carbon content of molten steel to the target specification.

​Foundry Carburizing:​​ Used in electric furnace melting for cast iron to compensate for carbon loss during melting, stabilizing the composition of molten iron.

​Replacing Traditional Carburizers:​​ Offers higher yield, more stable composition control, and a cleaner working environment compared to manual broadcasting of bulk carburizers.

High Carbon Content:​​ Typically ≥98% carbon content, ensuring effective carburization.

High Absorption Rate:​​ Delivers carbon deep into the molten steel with a high absorption rate of 90-95% and stable composition.

Eco-friendly:​​ Generates less dust and pollution compared to traditional carbon additives, improving the working environment.

Precise Control:​​ Enables micro-adjustment of carbon content, ideal for producing high-quality steel grades.
