It is manufactured by encasing high-purity graphite carbon or calcined anthracite powder within a thin steel strip through rolling. Using wire-feeding technology, it allows for precise and efficient carbon composition adjustment in molten steel.

 

Production Process

 

The production begins with calcining and grinding raw materials like petroleum coke or graphite into high-purity, low-sulfur/low-phosphorus carbon powder with a specific particle size. This powder is then continuously and uniformly fed into a steel strip via precision machinery. The strip is rolled, folded, and sealed to form a tight wire, which is finally wound into coils.

​Precise Carburization:​​ Used during secondary refining (e.g., in the LF furnace) to accurately adjust the carbon content of molten steel to the target specification.

​Q: How to select the proper wire diameter and feeding speed?​​

A: Selection depends on ladle capacity, target carbon increase, and processing time. Common diameters include 13mm and 16mm. Feeding speed must ensure the wire penetrates the slag layer and melts deep in the molten bath. We can provide technical guidance.
